Community Guidelines
Our standards for safety, respect, and professional conduct
Welcome to artmodels.ca. We're building a trusted space for authentic, independent artistic collaboration across Canada. These guidelines help us maintain a community where artists and models feel safe, respected, and inspired to create together.
Core Principles
- Safety First: We verify all members and provide tools to ensure safe interactions.
- Respect: Professional conduct and clear communication are mandatory.
- Authenticity: Real people, real art. No spam, no scams.
- Consent: Clear, enthusiastic consent is required for all interactions.
Content Standards: Artistic Nudity
As a platform for figure drawing and art modeling, we allow artistic nudity in portfolios and opportunity listings when it serves a clear creative purpose.
Allowed:
- Figure study references (neutral poses, focus on anatomy/form).
- Paintings, drawings, or sculptures depicting nudity.
- Artistic photography (lighting, composition, concept focus).
Outside Our Scope:
- Sexually explicit acts or pornography.
- Close-ups of genitalia without artistic context.
- Provocative "selfie-style" content intended for dating/hookups.
18+ Community: All members must be 18 years or older. We take the safety of minors seriously—any content depicting minors in a nude or semi-nude context will be reported to authorities.
Our Commitment: Every member deserves to feel safe and respected. Harassment, discrimination, and non-consensual behavior have no place in our community.
For Everyone
- Be Professional: Arrive on time, be prepared, and communicate clearly.
- Communicate Boundaries: Discuss comfort levels, poses, and expectations before meeting.
- Meet Safely: For first-time meetings, consider meeting in a public place or bringing a chaperone.
- Verify Details: Confirm date, time, location, and compensation in writing.
For Artists
- Respect Models: Models are your collaborators. Treat them with dignity and professionalism.
- Provide a Safe Environment: Ensure your studio or workspace is safe, warm, and private.
- Fair Compensation: Pay models fairly and promptly as agreed.
- Ask for Consent: Always ask before touching a model (e.g., to adjust a pose).
For Models
- Be Reliable: If you accept a booking, show up on time and ready to work.
- Know Your Limits: Only agree to poses and projects you are comfortable with.
- Communicate Clearly: Let the artist know if you need a break or are uncomfortable.
- Traveling? If you are touring, communicate your travel dates and location availability clearly in your profile or messages.
- Report Issues: If you feel unsafe or disrespected, report it to us immediately.
Compensation Guidelines
Compensation rates vary by region and experience level. Research typical rates in your city—life drawing sessions commonly range from $25-75 per hour depending on the market. Major metropolitan areas like Vancouver and Toronto typically have higher rates than smaller cities.
When posting opportunities, clearly state:
- Your city and specific location
- Compensation amount or range
- Session length and any travel requirements
- Paid: Hourly rate agreed upon beforehand
- Honorarium: Flat fee to cover expenses/time
- Trade (TFP): Time for Prints/Photos - mutually beneficial exchange
- Volunteer: Unpaid collaboration (clear expectations required)
Keeping Our Community Focused
- Content should serve artistic purposes—we're here to create together.
- No hate speech, discrimination, or bullying.
- No spam, multi-level marketing, or unrelated commercial promotion.
- No sharing of others' personal information without consent (doxing).
Thank you for helping us build a vibrant, safe, and respectful creative community.
